Meet People with FA

Evan
Evan

Evan was born on Aug. 26th, 1996.  He enjoys basketball, football, playing with his brother Graham, reading and playing Wii and Gamecube.  Evan attends Independence Elementary in Liberty Twp., OH.

In the past three years since Evan's diagnosis, the FA has progressed.  Evan's cardiologist felt that it would be best to do surgery for his scoliosis now rather than wait since Evan also has a serious heart condition associated with FA called hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.  On November 9, 2007 Evan underwent spinal fusion surgery at Cincinnati Children's Hospital.  The surgery was a success and has corrected his scoliosis, which had progressed quickly since his diagnosis in Oct. 2004.

In December 2006 Evan was granted a wish by the Make-A-Wish Foundation.  He wanted to meet Tiki Barber of the NY Giants.  Our entire family was flown to NYC and met the Giants team, had lunch with Tiki at one of his favorite restaurants; and Evan had the opportunity to talk one-on-one with Tiki.  Evan also gave the team a pep talk the day before the game at practice.  The Giants organization was amazing.  He had the opportunity to see Tiki play in one of his last home games with the Giants.  It was a trip he will never forget!
