We know that asking for support can feel intimidating, but it’s all about perspective. People want to help, and when you share your story and your purpose, you invite them to be part of something meaningful.

This fundraising hub offers a variety of ways to get involved, whether you’re a first‑time fundraiser or a seasoned champion. Explore the options below and choose the path that feels right for you. Together, every effort brings us one step closer to treatments and a cure.

Module 3A

Ways to Fundraise

Grassroots/Community Events

Grassroots events are community‑driven fundraisers that give you the flexibility to choose the kind of local event that feels right for you and your community.

Team FARA

Team FARA is a community of supporters who raise awareness and funds by taking on endurance challenges or celebrating personal milestones in ways that inspire others.

Letter Writing

Letter‑writing campaigns allow people to easily educate family and friends about FA, share their personal experiences, and raise support for research.

rideATAXIA

Through accessible rides of all distances, FARA-hosted rideATAXIA events bring together FA families, researchers, and their supporters to push their limits, build community, and fuel critical research.

Hometown

rideATAXIA Hometown offers teammates the opportunity to ride individually or host local events for their community.

Restaurant Give Back Nights

Bring your community together by hosting a give‑back night at a local restaurant or shop, where a portion of every purchase fuels FA research.

Virtual Peer-to-Peer Fundraising

You can fundraise anytime—not just through events! Explore customizable peer‑to‑peer fundraising options and create a page that fits your unique idea.

FARA Staff is here to support you!

The FARA Staff is experienced in event planning and fundraising. The team is happy to support you in planning your event —  brainstorming ideas, building a website, gathering a guest list, helping to evaluate venues and vendors, linking you with a mentor, and more. Whatever you need, we are here to help and to partner with you. Contact us at info@curefa.org.

Module 3A 4

How FARA Can Support You

Learn how FARA can help you in your fundraising efforts. Explore our Fundraising Manual here.

FARA utilizes the GoFundMe Pro fundraising platform to create event websites, and to collect donations and registration fees. FARA Staff will work with those hosting grassroots events or campaigns to decide which website option is appropriate and design the website using your desired event branding. Explore Website Platform Options here.

FARA publishes all fundraising events on our website’s Events Calendar (curefa.org/events).

FARA Monthly Newsletter: FARA includes a list of upcoming events in our monthly newsletter. Just let us know when your event is, and we can add it in!

Press Releases: FARA Staff can work with you to write a press release for your event and help share it with your local media.

Social Media: FARA posts a monthly list of upcoming events on social media with the event name, date, location and a note to visit curefa.org/events for more information. Due to the number of grassroots events, we are unable to share customized posts for grassroots events. We encourage organizers to host their own social media pages to engage with your event supporters and create excitement around the event.
