What's a typical day for you? A typical day for me is watching Netflix, eating, and cleaning. I love drawing, painting, and taking care of my 3 dogs, which are a black lab, a Chihuahua, and a mix. I also love watching musical movies and watching Youtube.
How long have you known you are living with FA? I knew something was wrong at 7 but was diagnosed at 8.
Are there any others with FA in your family? I am the only person with FA in my family.
Describe your transition from walking to walker/wheelchair. I used a manual wheelchair at all times...I remember, years ago, running to the mailbox and on the way back I twisted my ankle...since then, I use a wheelchair.
What do you like to do to stay active and what type of exercises work for you to stay strong? Lately, I've been doing OT again for stretching and working on different exercises to improve my mobility and range of motion.
Do you have any hobbies or special interests? I draw and do arts and crafts. I go on outings with family and friends doing various activities.
What is a good trick to make daily life easier? I have a phone case with a loop on it and have a cup with a lid and a straw.
When FA gets you down, what do you think/do to feel better? I just remember I am loved.
What is one way living with FA has POSITIVELY affected your life? Whenever I go to Disneyworld or Disneyland or six flags and I can cut to the front of the line. LOL
What is a favorite motivational quote of yours? The quote I go by is "I can do all things through Christ"
What is the best advice YOU could give to a person who has been newly diagnosed with FA? The biggest advice I can give someone newly diagnosed is, knowing other people with FA makes it easier.
What is the first thing you want to do when a cure/treatment to FA is found? The very first thing I want to do when a cure for FA is found, EASY run and jump.
