4th Annual Swing Away at FA
Saturday, October 19, 2013 Wiffle Ball Tournament & Family Fun Day
Benefitting FARA
In honor of the Stacks Family Jason and Candy, parents of Hannah, diagnosed with Friedreich's Ataxia in 2009, and, after three years of praying “that lightning wouldn’t strike twice,” her younger brother Austin, diagnosed in 2012.
Swing Away is held at Cabin Fever Farm, the home of Mike & Sue Thomas, generous supporters each year, in Dawsonville, Georgia, about an hour north of Atlanta. This year’s event had approximately 230 people in attendance and raised over $34,000 with the event and the letter writing campaign combined! Six ataxia families joined the Stacks with FARA coordinator, Jamie Young, to cheer on the tournament teams and share their reasons to keep fighting FA. A silent auction, t-shirt sales, and raffle items, including a 50/50 raffle, were matched with a great barbeque lunch, face painting, bouncy houses, and a rockin’ DJ, that kept everyone excited, despite the cloudy conditions for the Wiffle Ball Tournament.
“Thank you all that have supported us over the years and have joined our fight to CURE FA! We’re getting there!” -- The Stacks Family
