On Sunday, September 8 at Windham Country Club in Windham, New Hampshire was the Fuzzy Buzzy golf tournament. This was the 20th year of this FAntastic event, organized by Erin O’Neil and her family. It was a beautiful day for golf and to spend time with FAmily and friends.
I was talking with Erin after this amazing event to gather pictures and to see if she had any words to share. This is from Erin:
“The annual Fuzzy Buzzy is always held on the second Sunday in September. This year was extremely special to me seeing that it was the first year without my mother. She suddenly passed in June of this year, making me not want to attend or plan the Fuzzy. My family wanted “the show to go on” and I am very glad that it did.
It was a beautiful day; cool and sunny. We had about 120 golfers and it felt like we had 120 volunteers, but we probably had 30. My whole family pitches in, by either golfing or volunteering. There were about eight of my fellow FA friends and their families who came out to support me, buy some raffle and 50/50 tickets, and eat some lunch together. We had a nice lunch in the clubhouse with Jennifer Farmer, CEO of FARA, and a dear friend to all of us. After lunch, we went outside to sit at the putting contest, visit with the golfers, and enjoy each other’s company. At the end of the day, we wrapped up the golf tournament with a delicious pasta dinner, an announcement of the golf winners, the silent auction winners, and a special speech from the one and only Jen Farmer. This year was a giant success. We reached our highest fundraising amount yet, we raised $30,000! I feel my mother had a big hand in the event this year, in everything from the weather to the money raised for FARA.
The Fuzzy Buzzy has never been a huge money maker, but with each year that passes we reflect and realize where FARA was 20 years ago compared to today and we feel so grateful.”
Special thank you to the family for also giving to FARA as part of their memorial tribute to Erin’s mother, Mary Ann.
