Editor’s Note: Secondary Ed. In Morocco – There are three years of lower-middle school. This type of education is provided through what is referred to as the Collège. After 9 years of basic education, students begin upper secondary school and take a one-year common core curriculum, which is either in arts or science. First year students take arts and or science, mathematics or original education. Second year students take earth and life sciences, physics, agricultural science, technical studies or are in A or B mathematics track.
Who do you live with? I live with my mother because father died 17 years ago.
What’s a typical day for you? I work full time in my shop.
How long have you known you are living with FA? 11 years, but I was diagnosed in France 5 years ago.
Are there any others with FA in your family? No, I don’t know anyone with FA in my family
Describe your transition from walking to walker/wheelchair. I walk with help. I use a mobility scooter not for safety but to live my life.
What do you like to do to stay active and what type of exercises work for you to stay strong? I work, move and speak with my clients.
Do you have any hobbies or special interest? I used to play soccer but now I watch.
What is a good trick to make daily life easier? Pray
When FA gets you down, what do you think/do to feel better? Sleep
What is one way living with FA has POSITIVELY affected your life? FA has taught me how to be faithful and grateful for life.
What is a favorite motivational quote of yours? Always look forward.
What is the best advice YOU could give to a person who has been newly diagnosed with FA? Live a normal life and stay positive.
How do you live your life in the face of adversity? I have my dreams and I will not stop because of FA.
